No Richard did not get married. He and Johanna are friends from back in the 60's. Some photographers just snap away and write the wrong info..I've seen them do it with other actors also. He and Johanna enjoy each others company and she has helped him to restart his career as much as possible with her being a casting agent for m any years. Hi Jasper, like Joanie posted above. Some photographs of Richard and Johanna Ray were recently taken and mislabeled as Richard Chamberlain and Johanna Chamberlain, or Mr. and Mrs. Chamberlain. The tabloids who use these photo agencies then like to publish stories that he his married based on this error without checking the facts first.

In February 2010, Richard did an interview for the Archive of American Television on a wide range of subjects ... including his fans. The interview is available on several websites and some may have been surprised or shocked by a few of Richard's comments on the subject. Richard became aware that some had expressed concerns about his statements and he called me on the Fourth of July to chat about it. Richard was quite surprised anyone would have been interested enough to actually watch the interview.) Anyway, toward the end of our conversation, Richard asked me to pass along a message to anyone who has seen the interview and may have been hurt by his fan-related comments. He apologies on bended knees to anyone who was offended or hurt by his comments. He does recognize that sometimes the excitement of meeting one's "idol" is overwhelming and sometimes people can lose control momentarily; he admitted being in a similar situation himself in the past. He also said he is grateful for our continued support. Being the gentleman that he is, he did not go into detail about fans who send him gifts all the time or make frequent travels to where he is performing or appearing (something he spoke about in the interview)... he just wants all his fans to live their lives to the fullest and to be happy, the same I hope all of us want for him! Richard said he is well ... and he sounded great!

Dear Mr Chamberlain, I've emailed before to "who knows what" website address about your book, but I didn't say why. It spoke to me in a way nothing else did and you explained things in ways that made sense and gave me peace.
I, too, grew up in a dysfunctional family and never felt I belonged. In my case, it was a very strict religious environment, my father had a doctorate in theology. As I grew up, I discovered so many cracks in what was fed down my throat, and punishments were severe. I removed myself for sanity's sake and became the black sheep sinner. Went on to marry and raised my children to keep an open mind about everything. They're in their 30's now and so well-grounded that it does me proud.
I understand you can't respond, but thank you for this book and putting things in perspective. When you grow up not identifying with your family, the reasons become "fill in the blank" - from doctrine to sexual orientaion - the ROOT of it is inconsequential, only the matter that it exists, does. Your book helped me understand this and find peace with it. With myself.
Thank you, Mr Chamberlain. I wish there was a way to engage in discussions, but I understand when you're a busy celebrity, this just doesn't happen. Again, thank you. - P

Dear Sir, Your contribution to acting, painting and the deeply honest revelations in your book are a gift. But I write of something more personally special to me. My mother gave me a book to read 40 years ago when I was a teen, "Joy in the Morning" by Betty Smith. It was purely excellent and I read it over and over. Through time it got lost. When my mother recently passed away, it was found in her things and I have it back again. I found out a movie was made from this book that I wasn't aware of, starring yourself and Miss Mimieux. And so rare that I spent weeks trying to find it. I think I finally did, unless scammed, god forbid. Thank you for what you have given us and baring your soul in your book. (Wish there was a way to exchange questions and comments on it but celebrities don't associate with the masses.) And if posters of your art are available to the working poor, where do we find? I did not know it at the time the series came out but it has had great meaning in my life; I remember when I talked to my mom about it over washing dishes and now that I have teenagers of my own I realize how rough or sharp the Thorn can be. I no longer can feel my mom's warmth in my arms, my dad is dead and my youngest brother was the cause of knowing I needed a better life for myself and my own family. So how do you look today--I miss you. I am Catholic too. You have a lovely voice something I never heard from a man when growing up as a child except in the church. hmmm how precious life is but where a door closes a door opens I believe; maybe my feelings will change with time as I get older still. God Bless your endeavors you have helped me, I sincerely appreciate your beauty and character in Thorn Birds. My own daughter watched the series with me as a younger teen now she is 21 and has bought it for me as a birthday present I am 48. I can feel your kiss on her lips. ;)

While working as a porter in New York back in '99, I found an old highschool yearbook thrown out in the trash. It was the Beverly Hills High yearbook from 1949. It was only months later that i realised Richard Chamberlain was in it. There is also a picture of him in the athletics club along with the pictures of him and all his classmates. I have been following Richard's career for a long time. I am surprised to read in the recent articles that he left Maui and is no longer with Martin. Hawaii is a very beautiful place, but very boring after a while. The best of luck to Mr. Chamberlain.
