November 2012

"Dr. Kildare" will be released on DVD in 2013 in the U.S.A. via the Warner Archive manufacture on demand (MOD) program. "We get a lot of requests for the Dr. Kildare TV series with Richard Chamberlain, but we could never clear the music because we couldn't find the cue sheets." "Now we have, and it will probably be out next year" said studio executive George Feltenstein. The MOD releases are on standard DVD-R media that you use at home instead of normal pressed DVDs that you find in stores.

Richard's film "Wallenberg" after a delay of two months is finally released on DVD Region 2 (U.K. & Europe) on the 05 November 2012 and is available to order from Amazon.co.uk.

October 2012

Richard received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the EuroCinema Hawaii 2012 Awards Gala in Waikiki on Friday, October 19th. The event was held at the Moana Surfrider.

Chris Lee, founder of the University of Hawaii's Academy for Creative Media, was on hand as Richard Chamberlain arrived at the Moana Surfrider.

Richard Chamberlain, 78, whose television and film career stretches from "Dr. Kildare" to "Brothers and Sisters," was equally popular at the gala, surrounded by admirers. Chamberlain, who lived in Hawaii for several years, said he spent much of his time during this visit to Honolulu catching up with old friends. Of his Lifetime Achievement Award, he said, "I'm thrilled. I'm honored." Of EuroCinema, he said, "It's wonderful that these films get an audience."

Richard was a guest at the opening of Lynn Nottage's By the Way, Meet Vera Stark, at the Gefffen Playhouse, Los Angeles.

Richard's second guest appearance in "Leverage" gets it's U.K. premiere on Tuesday 25th September at 10:10PM on the channel FX. It is also repeated on Wednesday 26th September at 9:00PM, Saturday 29th September at 2:00PM and Sunday 30th September at 6:00PM. Richard's film "Wallenberg" is released on DVD Region 2 (U.K. & Europe) on the 10 September 2012 and is available to order from Amazon.co.uk.

In Los Angeles for the semi-annual Television Critics Association press tour, Richard Chamberlain and Rachel Ward will be reunited onstage for the first time in 30 years to reflect on the 1983 mini-series The Thorn Birds (joined by co-star Bryan Brown), as part of a panel discussion for PBS's ongoing Pioneers of Television series.

Producers Ben Sprecher and Sonia Friedman may bring their production of The Exorcist to the John Golden Theatre on Broadway this fall, according to the New York Post. The play, directed by John Doyle and starring Brooke Shields and Richard Chamberlain, will begin performances next month at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles and may transfer if reviews are sufficiently favourable. "Should the show move to Broadway, Shields will be coming with it. Chamberlain, however, will not. The producers have offered the role to Malcolm McDowell," - writer Michael Riedel.

Richard's film "The Perfect Family" will be released on DVD in the U.S. on June 26, 2012. You can order a copy from Amazon.

Stage and screen stars Brooke Shields and Richard Chamberlain take on the iconic roles of Chris MacNeil and Father Merrin in playwright John Pielmeier's world premiere of The Exorcist at the Geffen Playhouse. Helmed by acclaimed director John Doyle, who won a Tony Award for his striking reimagining of Sweeney Todd, this stage adaptation of William Peter Blatty's famous 1971 novel transforms the unsettling battles of good versus evil, faith versus fact, and ego versus ethos into a uniquely theatrical experience as sophisticated as it is suspenseful.

Joining Shields and Chamberlain on stage is Broadway actor David Wilson Barnes (The Lieutenant of Inishmore) as the troubled young priest Father Damien Karras, Tony Award nominee and Geffen alum Harry Groener (Equivocation) as Chris' charismatic director Burke Dennings, and UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television graduate Emily Yetter as young Regan MacNeil. The world premiere cast also includes Stephen Bogardus, Manoel Felciano, Tom Nelis, and Roslyn Ruff.

"The story of the battle between faith and evil needed no spinning heads or green vomit," said playwright John Pielmeier, who is most well-known for the award-winning play/screenplay Agnes of God and the acclaimed miniseries The Pillars of the Earth. “The horror should unfold instead on a simple set with an incredible cast (which we absolutely have), and the central conflict between doubting Father Karras and the demon should be a series of debates, in which the young girl possessed is the least of the figures present."

The Exorcist begins in previews in the Gil Cates Theater at the Geffen Playhouse on July 3, 2012, and officially opens on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Special events during the run of The Exorcist include the theater's special Signature Series performances for no additional cost. These evenings include an intellectual, thought-provoking post show Q&A at Talk Back Tuesdays; a scintillating, one-of-a kind after-party at Girls Night Out; a cultural happy hour with Lounge Fridays; and complimentary wine tastings during Wine Down Sundays.

Yana Alliata di Montereale, center, celebrated the completion of "Requiem for Emily," her final film project for the Loyola Marymount University/LA School of Film and Television, with a preview screening and dinner party January 7 at the Alliata estate in Makiki Heights. Guests included Celia Miner, left, and her husband, Jim Miner, who had housed members of the cast and crew during the film shoot in South Dakota, and Marie-France Rouze, who came to the party with Richard Chamberlain. Chamberlain and others who helped fund the project received gift bags containing a copy of the film and a jar of "Dakota-grown" raspberry jelly. The screening was followed by a buffet dinner in the gorgeous new "glass house" adjacent to the historic mansion. If all goes well, Hawaii will see "Requiem for Emily" at the Hawaii International Film Festival.

U.S. viewers can catch Richard's guest starring role in the season finale episode of "Leverage" on Sunday, January 15, at 9:00PM on TNT.
